How much protein do I need to lose weight?
How much protein you need to lose weight depends on a number of factors such as your age, weight, height, gender and how active you are. In general, it is recommended that you eat about 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. If you want to lose weight, it is recommended that you eat between 1 to 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. When you are very active and do a lot of sports, your body needs more protein to repair muscles and you can eat about 1.6 - 1.8 grams of protein.

Protein is found in a variety of foods and you don't have to stick to a strict diet to increase your protein intake. Protein is of course found a lot in eggs but other products high in protein are lean meats such as chicken and turkey, dairy products such as low-fat French cottage cheese, fish and nuts and seeds. In addition, it is good to choose whole grain cereals such as oatmeal or quinoa.
