Technique and safety

BeyondFit · Personal trainer Amsterdam
Every month, around a thousand people in and around Amsterdam search for a personal trainer, and more than five thousand do so nationwide. That makes sense: everyone knows movement matters, but training consistently on your own proves difficult. This page explains what a personal trainer does, why it works and what to look for when choosing one.

The basics
A personal trainer is more than someone who demonstrates exercises. A good trainer starts with measurements and questions: where are you now, what do you want to achieve and what does your week look like? From there, you get a personal training plan that fits your level and schedule.
During sessions, your trainer watches your technique, determines how hard and how often you train, and builds the load step by step. Between sessions, they track your progress and adjust. Perhaps most importantly, there is an appointment in your calendar with someone who is counting on you.
Why it works
You learn to perform exercises correctly, making training more effective and allowing you to build up responsibly.
Not a standard schedule, but progression that fits your level, goal and available time.
The biggest gain often comes not from the perfect exercise, but from the simple fact that you show up. Week after week.
A trainer sees what works and what does not, and adapts your plan before you stall.
What is changing
The trend reports for 2026 show a clear shift. Traditional strength training remains firmly in the top ten and forms the foundation of almost every good programme. Recovery, sleep and stress management carry increasing weight: rest is taken as seriously as training itself. And personal training is becoming more personal, using measurements and data rather than gut feeling.
The common thread: isolated workouts are giving way to an integrated approach in which training, nutrition, recovery and habits form one whole. That is exactly where the industry is heading.
Choosing
Our approach
At BeyondFit, you also train with a personal trainer, in a private boutique gym in Amsterdam-West. But we do not believe in isolated training hours. Personal training is available only as part of a programme, together with a personal plan, nutrition coaching and guidance around your habits.
That is exactly the difference. Two good sessions a week cannot outweigh a week of poor sleep, rushed meals and running on reserves. That is why we address the whole picture. Not just training, but everything that determines whether it pays off. This is how you work towards lasting results; they vary from person to person, but they have a foundation.
A clear route
In 15 minutes, we measure your body composition with an InBody scan and discuss your goal and your week. You receive a broad plan with an indication of programme and cost.
If you are enthusiastic and genuinely want to continue, we invite you to a trial session. You train with us once, we test the plan against what you can do now and you experience the studio and our approach.
After your trial session, you receive your final plan and proposal: the programme, a clear cost overview and how it fits your week. If you say yes, we get started and you no longer have to organise it all yourself.

Especially for beginners. You learn correct technique from day one, build up from your own starting point and avoid the mistakes many people make in their first few months.
That depends on your goal and programme. In most BeyondFit programmes, you train with your trainer twice a week or more.
No. Personal training is always part of a programme with nutrition, a plan and coaching, because that combination determines the result. Only nutrition coaching is available separately.
